Cowboys Drop Pair At Concordia
AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped an American Southwest Conference doubleheader to Concordia, 7-1 and 10-3, on Saturday afternoon in Austin.

Game 1

Concordia broke open a 3-3 game with three runs in the fourth and four more in the sixth inning as the Cowboys had five errors in the game.

HSU's lone runs came on a bases loaded double by Colton Parker in the third inning to tie the game at 3-3. Jake Valdez drove in six runs for the Tornados with a three-run home run in the first inning and another three-run shot in the sixth.

Garrett Johnston allowed six runs to fall to 4-3 but all six runs were unearned. Brock bourland worked the final inning and two-third for the Cowboys. Justin Traxler improved to 2-3 with a complete-game four-hitter and the three runs he allowed were unearned.

Parker had two of the six HSU hits in the game.

Game 2

The Tornados had 11 hits and seven runs off of starter Ty Engelhardt in four and one third innings as he fell to 3-4 on the year. Kyle Barnett, Mike Richardson and Hayden Day worked three and two-third innings of scoreless ball out of the bullpen.

Jake Valdez started and was relieved by Matthew Brown, who went seven and one-third innings in relief and allowed just three hits and no runs to improve to 6-2.

Cade Johnson produced the Cowboys' lone run with an RBI single in the first inning. Zack de Luna led the Cowboys with two hits and Casen Novak was 5-for-5 for the Tornados.

The Cowboys are now 16-20 on the year and 8-13 in ASC play. Concordia improved to 24-13 and 14-7 in league play. HSU will travel to Trinity on Tuesday and will host Sul Ross State next weekend. HSU has a one-game lead on the Lobos for the final spot in the ASC tournament.
