Cowboys Picked to Finish Third in West Division


RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team has been picked to finish third in the American Southwest Conference West Division.

 

The Cowboys finished with 143 points and three top-spot votes, just ahead of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (142 pts., four first-place votes). The Texas Lutheran bulldogs were picked to finish first followed by McMurry with 156 points and four first-place votes. The top four teams from the ASC West will advance to postseason play and the highest remaining West seed after the crossover series' will host the ASC Tournament.

                                                                                                                            

Seniors catcher/designated hitter Regan Dixon and pitcher Tim Kriegel have been placed on the players to watch list for this season. Dixon hit .354 with a school-ASC era record 16 homeruns and 56 RBI's and a slugging percentage of .744. Kriegel posted a 7-4 record with a 4.52 era last season.

 

The Cowboys open the season Feb. 12 at home against the University of the Southwest. Game time is set for noon.
