In Jimmie Keeling’s career, he led the Cowboys to the national playoffs – either NAIA or NCAA Division III – 11 times in his 21 seasons as the HSU coach. His teams won TIAA titles in 1993, 1994 and 1995 and American Southwest Conference titles in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004. He posted a record of 172-53 at Hardin-Simmons University. Keeling served the school as athletic director from 1995 to 1997 and helped oversee the transition to the American Southwest Conference and Division III athletics. . In 2004, he received the Grant Teaff Lifetime Achievement Award by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Before coming to HSU, Keeling coached for 30 years at the high school level with a career record of 196-91-11. In 1995, he was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor.
